Alexis Gooding

Associate

Alexis Gooding is an Associate in the New York office of Brooks & Berne PLLC, where her practice focuses on defending claims involving general liability, premises liability, and personal injury litigation. Ms. Gooding earned her J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where she was a Pro Bono Scholar, a Fellow in the Child and Family Advocacy Fellowship, Academic Chair of the Black Law Students Association, and a member of the Hofstra Trial Advocacy Association. She also holds a Master of Arts in Social and Public Policy from SUNY Empire State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Government from Florida Memorial University.

Before joining Brooks & Berne PLLC, Ms. Gooding gained extensive experience navigating New York’s court system. She served as a Research Assistant to the Honorable Cenceria Edwards in the New York State Supreme Court, Civil Term, Kings County, and as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Sharon Clarke in Kings County Family Court, where she reviewed complex custody, visitation, and family offense matters. Dedicated to pro bono service, Ms. Gooding served as a Student Attorney in the Defender Clinic, representing indigent clients on misdemeanor charges in Nassau County District Court, engaging in motion practice, and evaluating immigration consequences for undocumented clients. As part of the New York State Court’s Pro Bono Scholars Program, she served as a Supervisory Senior Law Clerk with the Prisoners Legal Advocacy Network, where she advocated on behalf of incarcerated individuals.

Ms. Gooding also gained valuable experience in the sports and entertainment industry as a Legal Resident with Roc Nation, where she drafted vendor and non-disclosure agreements for the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show, redlined licensing agreements for the United Justice Coalition Summit, and tracked exclusivity clauses to support the sales and brand partnerships teams. She is passionate about using her legal skills to deliver strategic, client-centered solutions.
