Candace Johnson is the Managing Partner for the New Jersey Office and oversees the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She concentrates her practice on insurance coverage counseling and coverage litigation nationally, with particular focus on New York and New Jersey. Her coverage practice extends to coverage counseling and litigation matters involving public entities, CGL policies, homeowner’s policies, TCPA claims, toxic torts, and malpractice actions including legal and insurance issues.

 

Ms. Johnson also has extensive experience handling insurance defense and commercial litigation matters, including the defense of professional liability, product liability, premises liability, TCPA claims against municipalities, as well as providing advice and opinions on the impact and interplay of indemnification and insurance provisions in commercial contracts. She regularly defends contractors, building owners, commercial landlords and tenants, among others, in personal injury actions arising in a variety of contexts. She has also engaged in appellate practice and has argued appeals before the New York State Appellate Division, Second Department. 

 

Ms. Johnson is able to resolve cases using her exceptional communication and analytical skills, pragmatic approach to litigation, and her ability to unravel the key issues and law involved in the most complex claims. Ms. Johnson makes it a priority to seek proactive approaches early in the life of a claim to preserve coverage defenses, forestall potential bad faith issues, and leverage the possibility of coverage litigation to create the most efficient and practical resolution opportunities.
